Podcast #3 – Planning a Project-Based Course

April 6th, 2007 by Dave · No Comments

mp3

I go step-by-step through the planning of a project-based, content-based course. I start with a needs / wants analysis using a survey and some diagnostic activities. I let students know the plan by way of my syllabus and a quick look at the textbook.

After getting ideas about content and skill areas from my students, I plan some sort of project. The individual action project and the survey / interview project are two examples. With both of these projects, I give students flexibility both in terms of the topic and form of the project.

Once the project is in place, I do some activities that help students learn content and develop the relevant language skills.

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or want to share some ideas of your own.
