Rethinking Schools: Teaching About the War

December 5th, 2007 by Dave · No Comments

I recently found the Teaching About the War page over at Rethinking Schools. The have lesson plans, suggested readings, teacher resources and a bunch of other stuff. The lesson plans include activities on poetry and songs, in addition to more traditional reading, writing and discussion. The site is focused on the War on Iraq, but also has information on other conflicts.

For another perspective on the war, check out the financial cost of the war. This website allows you to break down the cost by region (state, city, etc.) and also to compare it to other areas of national spending.

In general, I’m a fan of Rethinking Schools, especially their books Reading, Writing and Rising Up and Rethinking Globalization. For a bit more on these two books (along with a few other global issues oriented textbooks) check out Podcast #21.
