NaNoWriMo is coming!
October 11th, 2008 · No Comments
November is National Novel Writing Month. Last year, I had a great time completing my 50,000 word opus, and I am looking forward to giving it another go this year. In a creative writing class, this could be a great way to get students to write a lot without worrying overly much about grammar.

I just saw this neat post over at the Compact, a SF-based group aimed at reducing consumption. Rachel came up with a “Cap ‘n’ Trade” system of gifts a few years ago. She encouraged the people in her life to take simple steps towards sustainability as a gift to her. I gave friends, family, and [...]

Rethinking Schools: Teaching About the War

I recently found the Teaching About the War page over at Rethinking Schools. The have lesson plans, suggested readings, teacher resources and a bunch of other stuff. The lesson plans include activities on poetry and songs, in addition to more traditional reading, writing and discussion. The site is focused on the War on Iraq, but [...]
